Who is Kenyatta?
Kenyatta Muzzanni Robles (she/they) lives at the intersection of arts and organizing, having been a writer and participant in social movements since she was young. This duality comes naturally to Kenyatta having grown up in the Brownsville neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY.
Their writing has appeared in Aislin Magazine, Hartford Courant, Harvesting Chaos: Seed Packets for Liberated Practice, the 2024 WriteAngles Online Journal, and elsewhere. Last year, Kenyatta performed in a one-person show during The Grass is Greener exhibition & art gallery in Holyoke, MA. In 2022, they wrote and performed original pieces at the Carriage House Theater for La Sala Femme: The ReEmergence and A Little Bit of Death VII. An interdisciplinary artist, Kenyatta uses writing, audio, film, and live performance to explore our existence, connection, and the universe within and around us.
Kenyatta also has over 10 years of experience in the criminal justice reform field, and over 15 years of experience in social movements. They are the Founder & Director of Action Arc Labs, a social social change organization that combines community organizing and storytelling to build power, shift paradigms, and disrupt the status quo. An avid rugby player in undergrad and graduate school, Kenyatta made it off the pitch and across the stage to get a Bachelors of Science in Psychology from Juniata College, and a Masters of Social Work with a Policy Practice focus from the University of Connecticut.
In the end, Kenyatta’s purpose in life is to build power with oppressed people to ensure our collective freedom. They are a builder and a destroyer.
